Trust and Neutrality
Guilt Leads to Timeless Truth.
With Neutral Mind you can hear your truth and trust it.
No one wants to be wrong—not the child in time-out or the criminal at his execution. Every trespass begs a look in the mirror, a closer scrutiny, a search for understanding or clarity. When we resist that inquiry and harden in our views, the pain persists. But when we are willing to see what comes to light, when we yield to the lessons gained and face the consequences, we become lighter and stronger. In the meditations in this chapter, you may have realized something you didn’t know before. When through the Neutral Mind your heart speaks Universal Truth, you have found the gift of Guilt. You have entered the Timeless realm that is Soul’s steady destination through every experience and emotion. Living in and acting from that Truth is the highest human experience. Even so, the transition from living in your lesser truth and lies can be daunting. Having leaned on your cleverness for so long, how do you learn to trust this quiet voice that commands so simply and yet feels so foreign?
Have you ever been in an earthquake? When the one solid thing you assume you can rely on to support you—that is, the earth you stand on—is unstable, it rattles you to the core. Uncertainty is stressful. We’ve all spent lifetimes wondering what’s wrong, who’s right, how do we act, what do we do. In contrast, when you know where you stand—on the solid ground of self-reliance based on the fact that inner guidance is reliably available—you are relaxed and carefree, even through shaky times. This is the state of Trust.
